If you run your shop on Jobber, ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, or any of the platforms in this directory, you have probably asked a simple question: Can this thing talk to my other tools — or do I have to copy and paste everything by hand?
That connection has a name: an API. Think of it as a door in your software. When the door is wide open, a new lead, a finished job, or an unpaid invoice can move on its own — to a text message, a follow-up, a review request, or your books. When the door is locked or missing, the work does not become impossible. It just needs a different route, and you should know that before anyone sells you an automation.
This directory gives you a straight, owner-readable answer for the forty-six platforms contractors run their shops on. No sales talk about features we have not verified. Where a capability is not confirmed in the vendor’s own documentation, we say UNVERIFIED right on the page — because building your business on a maybe is expensive.
Every platform gets an Openness score from 1 to 5:
The score is about connection, not quality. A 1 does not mean bad software. It means your automation has to be built differently — and priced differently.
We try connections in this order, best first:
Most shops only need one or two data points moving — a new lead, a completed job, an open invoice. You do not need everything connected. You need the right things connected.
Standing warning — reviews: No platform in this directory has a verified reviews API. That means no software here can be the engine for asking for reviews by itself. A proper review system takes its “job done” signal from the best available source — an alert, a bridge, a daily sync, or our own call log — and runs the ask itself, pointed at Google. Any vendor who tells you their field-service software handles the whole review flow through its API is ahead of the evidence.
Pick your software and the thing you want to happen. The answer comes from the same data as the comparison table under it — one source, so this directory cannot disagree with itself.
One row is ours. The AltaPoint AEO Check API is listed in this table and scored by the same rubric as the other 46 — it is marked (ours) wherever it appears, and its gate is printed like everyone else’s.
| Platform | Openness | Best for | Hidden gate |
|---|---|---|---|
Jobber — live: /apis/jobber/ |
5 | Speed-to-lead and quote follow-up — it has a native lead object called Requests | Invoice and payment creation is UNVERIFIED |
HubSpot — live: /apis/hubspot/ |
5 | CRM pipeline, lead follow-up, and deal tracking | Invoices and payments are read-only |
Procore — live: /apis/procore/ |
5 | Big commercial projects where the money records — invoices, change orders, budgets, direct costs — need to move automatically | Your developer signup is free — but your Procore company admin decides, permission by permission, what a connected app may touch |
ServiceM8 — live: /apis/servicem8/ |
5 | Small-to-mid trade and service shops that want the most open, self-serve API — jobs, clients, job payments, and feedback with a key the owner generates | Your own shop’s key is self-serve in Settings — selling the add-on to other shops requires Development Partner registration and OAuth |
Zoho CRM — live: /apis/zoho-crm/ |
5 | Shops that want one CRM where the deal, the quote, and the invoice record all live — and an outside system can read and write all three | The door is open on every edition, even free — the meter is the gate: every call spends credits, and small editions run out fast |
QuickBooks Online — live: /apis/quickbooks/ |
4 | Invoice chasing and getting paid faster | Production access needs Intuit’s App Assessment — a gate on the builder, not on you |
JobNimbus — live: /apis/jobnimbus/ |
4 | Roofing and exterior shops that want new contacts and jobs to drive fast follow-up, with the API open on every plan | Your admin must create the API key and pick its access profile — too narrow and the connection quietly can’t see or do what you paid for |
CompanyCam — live: /apis/companycam/ |
4 | Crews whose job proof lives in photos — getting every photo, document, and checklist into the system that runs the job | The API only turns on with a paid plan — and the old API docs retire in early 2027, so build on the new developer portal |
Aspire — live: /apis/aspire/ |
4 | Larger landscape shops that need job, work-ticket, invoice and payment data pulled into accounting, payroll, or reporting tools | Aspire has to activate API access for your company, and your admin has to create the key and pick which parts it can touch |
Buildxact — live: /apis/buildxact/ |
4 | Residential builders who want website leads pushed straight in, and lead and estimate events pushed out the moment they happen | Buildxact has to approve your subscription request before you get a key — and you need that key plus a login token on every call |
Salesforce — live: /apis/salesforce/ |
4 | Contractors who already run their whole sales pipeline in Salesforce and need leads, accounts and jobs to flow to everything else | Your edition decides everything — if you’re not on Enterprise or above, the API is a paid add-on, not a switch |
GoHighLevel — live: /apis/gohighlevel/ |
4 | Agencies and shops running marketing on HighLevel who want contacts, pipelines, estimates, invoices, and payments moving through one documented API | OAuth sits on the $497/mo SaaS Pro plan per HighLevel’s pricing page, and apps for other shops hit a wall at 5 agencies without review |
Simpro — live: /apis/simpro/ |
4 | Larger trade contractors on multi-crew service and project work who need a deep, documented API controlled build-by-build | Each customer’s Simpro is its own build — their admin must set up API access and hand over credentials first |
FieldPulse — live: /apis/fieldpulse/ |
4 | Growing service shops whose builder needs customers, jobs, estimates and invoices moving both ways, plus change alerts | You can’t get a key from a settings screen — FieldPulse Support has to hand you one, and set up your webhooks too |
FreshBooks — live: /apis/freshbooks/ |
4 | Small service shops that live on estimates, invoices, and getting paid — the whole chain is readable and writable through one API | Public apps need a FreshBooks AppStore review — and any new permission scope forces every user to re-authorize |
Xero — live: /apis/xero/ |
4 | Shops that want invoices, payments, and quotes tied straight into the books their bookkeeper already runs | Your builder pays at scale — developer plans cap connections (Starter 5), and past 1,000, certification plus an annual security assessment are required |
Pipedrive — live: /apis/pipedrive/ |
4 | Sales-driven shops that live in the pipeline — a new deal, its person, and its follow-ups can all be created and tracked by an outside system | Projects only connect with the Projects add-on, and all calls draw on a daily token budget set by plan × seats |
Bluebeam — live: /apis/bluebeam/ |
4 | AEC teams that want to spin up Studio Sessions, move drawings in and out, and react the moment a project file changes | Core or higher required (Basics can’t touch it), your account must be in a supported region, and Bluebeam must approve your app for production |
MaintainX — live: /apis/maintainx/ |
4 | Maintenance and facilities teams that want work orders, assets and parts moving in and out of their other systems without asking permission first | Premium/Enterprise only — on cheaper plans there’s nothing to connect to |
ServiceTitan — live: /apis/servicetitan/ |
3 | Larger shops that need bookings and tags written back to the board | Your tenant admin must create the keys, and re-approve when scopes change; webhooks are UNVERIFIED |
Housecall Pro — live: /apis/housecall-pro/ |
3 | Rich job, estimate, and payment alerts — if you are on the right plan | API access requires the MAX plan, and the key is unscoped — full-account access |
AccuLynx — live: /apis/acculynx/ |
3 | Roofers chasing balances — payments and AR age are readable and writable | Estimates and invoices are read-only; no payment or estimate webhook topics |
FieldEdge — live: /apis/fieldedge/ |
3 | Shops already on FieldEdge who need a custom, developer-built connection approved by FieldEdge — starting with pulling customer records out | FieldEdge has to approve you and provision your app before you get any keys |
Workiz — live: /apis/workiz/ |
3 | Lead and job automation — new leads and jobs can be created from your other tools, and status changes can kick off follow-up | The Developer API add-on must be switched on first — and it only covers jobs and leads, not invoices |
Service Fusion — live: /apis/service-fusion/ |
3 | Pro-plan shops that need new customers, jobs, and estimates pushed in, and customer/job/estimate lists pulled out | No Pro plan, no API — and no Zapier either |
BuildOps — live: /apis/buildops/ |
3 | Commercial MEP and fire-safety service shops that mainly need new customers pushed into BuildOps from their sales pipeline | You can’t even read the full API docs until your BuildOps rep invites you in |
FieldRoutes — live: /apis/fieldroutes/ |
3 | Pest shops on Growth or Corporate that need a builder to pull and push data office-by-office | The API key only sees one office unless FieldRoutes gives you a global key |
Knowify — live: /apis/knowify/ |
3 | Trade contractors on a higher plan who want new projects, clients, invoices, and payments to kick off work in other tools through Zapier | No Growth or Enterprise plan, no API key — and the key is documented for Zapier, not a wide-open direct connection |
Autodesk Construction Cloud — live: /apis/autodesk-construction-cloud/ |
3 | Bigger GCs and design-build shops already living in Autodesk who need issues, RFIs and project files to trigger work in other systems | There is no API key inside ACC — your admin has to register a separate Autodesk developer app and then approve it into your account |
Viewpoint Spectrum — live: /apis/viewpoint-spectrum/ |
3 | Established contractors running Spectrum as their ERP of record who need vendors, customers, jobs and AP invoices moving without re-typing | Spectrum’s API is a licensed module your admin has to turn on and authorize service-by-service — if Data Exchange isn’t on your licence, there is no API |
Foundation Software — live: /apis/foundation-software/ |
3 | Contractors whose books already live in FOUNDATION and who are bringing in a real integration partner to move job-cost and AP data | Foundation holds the keys — their support team has to onboard you and hand you a subscription key before the API answers at all |
JobTread — live: /apis/jobtread/ |
3 | Residential builders already on JobTread whose builder works through the partner program or the Zapier bridge | You must apply and meet with their team to build for other shops — and the real API manual lives behind a customer login |
Kickserv — live: /apis/kickserv/ |
3 | Premium-plan service shops whose builder mainly needs customers and jobs pushed and pulled — not invoices or payments | The API only turns on if you’re paying for a premium plan — and the token lives on an employee’s record and resets with their password |
RazorSync — live: /apis/razorsync/ |
3 | Service shops with a builder comfortable with an older-style JSON service who needs customer, service request, quote, invoice and payment in and out | You have to get your token from RazorSync itself — the docs show no button in your account to make one yourself |
PestPac — live: /apis/pestpac/ |
3 | Bigger pest operators who need leads, new customers and payment data pushed into PestPac from their phones, CRM or sales tools | Buy API access separately and get it switched on for your database first |
Supermove — live: /apis/supermove/ |
3 | Moving companies that want website leads landing as ready-made projects, and finished-project news pushed out to their other tools | No key button in the app — Supermove emails you the API key |
AltaPoint AEO Check API (ours) — live: /apis/altapoint-aeo-check/ |
3 | Scoring a contractor website’s AI-readiness from your own software — the same engine as the free AEO Check, returned as JSON | Keys are issued by AltaPoint on request (free tier) — no self-serve signup yet; results sit behind a shared 24-hour cache |
Sage — live: /apis/sage/ |
2 | Job costing and back-office reporting on a scheduled rhythm | Sage 100 Contractor has no public cloud API; Intacct’s API needs a paid Web Services licence |
Houzz Pro — live: /apis/houzz-pro/ |
2 | Remodelers and designers who want Houzz marketplace leads, estimates, and QuickBooks sync in one system — and don’t need custom automation | Houzz claims API access on Teams/Enterprise but publishes no way for an outside builder to get in — only its own syncs and a one-way Zapier door are usable |
Contractor Foreman — live: /apis/contractor-foreman/ |
2 | Small GCs and remodelers who only need leads and customers pushed in, and files pushed out, through Zapier | There is no door to open — Zapier and a few built-in syncs only, so anything deeper runs outside the system |
Leap CRM (formerly JobProgress) — live: /apis/leap-crm/ |
2 | Home-improvement shops on Leap CRM who want new leads and customers copied into their other tools, and new leads pushed into Leap, through Zapier | JobProgress is now Leap CRM — and Leap does not hand you an API key; connections go through its partner list and Zapier |
RealGreen — live: /apis/realgreen/ |
2 | Lawn and landscape shops already on SA5 that want web leads dropped straight in and sales numbers pulled out for a dashboard | The API is a paid add-on on higher plans and WorkWave has to set it up with you — no public documentation exists |
Raken — live: /apis/raken/ |
2 | Contractors who want daily-report and time data pulled out of Raken into payroll or a spreadsheet, and are fine asking Raken how | Raken says there’s a public API, but the instruction book isn’t public — you have to ask Raken |
Buildertrend — live: /apis/buildertrend/ |
1 | Builders who plan for sync-based reporting, not live automation | It is closed — no public API, webhooks, or bridge apps found |
Service Autopilot — live: /apis/service-autopilot/ |
1 | Route-based lawn, landscape, cleaning and snow shops that will run everything inside Service Autopilot’s own automations and its QuickBooks sync | There is no door to open — no open API and no Zapier today, only the connections Service Autopilot built itself |
Joist — live: /apis/joist/ |
1 | Solo and small contractors who just want estimates, invoices, and payments on their phone — with books in QuickBooks Online | There is no door to open — no API key, no Zapier app, no webhooks; data leaves only through Joist’s own QuickBooks sync on Pro or higher |
Tradify — live: /apis/tradify/ |
1 | Small trade shops that only need quotes, jobs and invoices inside one app, with books syncing to Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB or Sage | There is no door at all — the only tools Tradify talks to are the accounting and payment connections Tradify itself built in |
Read your own platform first. Then ask two questions before you buy or build anything: Which plan am I actually on? and Who is the admin who can approve a connection? Those two answers decide more about your automation than any feature list.
Free AEO Checker — See how ready your website is for AI search: does it have the schema, answers, contact details, and service pages that AI tools look for before they recommend a contractor?
Free Snapshot — A short look at where leads and money leak out of a typical shop — missed calls, slow follow-up, stale estimates, unpaid invoices — and which of those your current software can actually help you fix.
Both are free. Neither obligates you to anything.
AEO Check API — Run the same check from your own software: the AEO Readiness Check as a key-authenticated API, with developer docs and a real example response.
What is an API, in one sentence?
An API is a documented door that lets one program read or update information in another program — so a new lead or a paid invoice can trigger the next step automatically instead of waiting for a person to re-type it.
Does a low Openness score mean I chose the wrong software?
No. The score only measures how openly the software connects to outside tools. A closed platform can still run a good business — it just means automations use scheduled syncs or run on separate calling and texting tools, and anyone quoting you should say that up front.
Can I automate review requests through my field-service software?
Not through a verified reviews API — no platform in this directory has one. What works is using a job-completed signal from your software (an instant alert, a bridge app, or a daily sync) to trigger a review request that runs separately and points customers to Google.
Why does my plan tier matter so much?
Because some vendors lock the door behind their top plan. Housecall Pro, for example, only opens its API on the MAX plan, and Sage Intacct charges separately for API access. If a quote assumes API access you do not have, the upgrade cost belongs in the quote — never buried after the fact.
Do I need to connect everything to automate anything?
No. Most useful automations need just one reliable signal — a new lead, a finished job, or an unpaid invoice. Start with the leak that costs you the most, connect that one thing well, and add from there.
Where can I learn what an API key, a webhook, and a plan gate actually are?
Read How APIs Work — a plain-English guide for contractors: what an API and an API key are, webhooks vs. scheduled sync, bridge apps and their limits, key security, and the 5 questions to ask any software vendor before you buy.
More free resources: this directory is one of several free tools and guides we publish. See all of them on the Resources page. Or start with the Software Check — three questions, a straight verdict on what your own software can automate.
What we learned building this directory: we scored all 46 platforms across 230 checks. See the directory findings for what the data actually says, including why no platform here offers a verified public reviews API.
