Joist API Guide for Contractors

One-line verdict: Joist has no API, no webhooks, and no Zapier app — the only way data leaves is Joist’s own QuickBooks sync, on Pro or higher. Openness: 1 / 5 — rated 1 because every connection rung we checked is absent in the vendor’s own materials; the single documented connection is a vendor-built sync, not something you or a builder can build on.

The connection that works

There is no rung 1. Joist (part of the EverPro/EverCommerce family) publishes no developer portal, no API reference, and no API-key documentation anywhere in its own materials. No direct connection exists to document — no endpoints, no auth model, no rate limits.

There is no bridge either. Zapier’s own community answers state it plainly: Joist “does not have a public Zap app available yet” and “currently doesn’t have an integration with us.” No Make app was found. When the bridge company itself says there’s no app, the bridge rung is closed, not merely unverified.

The one real connection is a sync Joist runs itself: link your accounts and Joist automatically sends estimates and invoices to QuickBooks Online, running in the background daily after a one-time setup, with a manual sync available anytime. The vendor’s plan gate is stated on its own pages: the QuickBooks sync is available on Joist Pro or Elite (and listed on the current Run plan). That sync is genuinely useful — and it is a one-way, vendor-defined pipe: estimates and invoices, Joist to QuickBooks, on Joist’s terms.

Everything else on the pricing page — estimates, invoices, online payments, change orders, jobs and scheduling, even “Joist Reviews” — is an in-app product feature. Features are not connections.

Can automate

Can’t automate

Hidden gate: There is no door to open — Joist has no API key, no Zapier app, and no webhooks; the only way data leaves is its own QuickBooks sync on Pro or higher. If your plan depends on Joist talking to anything else, the plan needs a different center.

Build fit — what this platform supports well

What this means for your shop

If you’re a solo operator or a small crew and Joist’s phone-first estimating and invoicing is all you need, this score costs you nothing — plenty of good shops run exactly that way. The score matters the day you want a second tool involved: a follow-up system, a call catcher, a dashboard. At that point Joist is a wall with one pipe through it, and your automation gets built around the pipe — in QuickBooks — not around Joist.
