One-line verdict: A short, honest API — customers, jobs, and estimates in and out — locked behind the Pro plan, with invoices nowhere in the vendor’s own list. Openness: 3 / 5 — rated 3 because Service Fusion documents a real API with OAuth credentials and a clear supported-endpoint list, but access requires the Pro plan and the list stops before invoices and payments.
Rung 1 — Direct connection, Pro plan only. Service Fusion’s help center is unusually plain about this: “the Service Fusion API is currently only available to Pro plan subscribers,” and you may need to upgrade to get it. Once you’re on Pro, credentials live under My Office → Developer Settings → API Credentials — a Client ID and Client Secret used with an OAuth client-credentials flow. There is a second, better pattern too: Connected Apps, where each connected app gets its own Client ID and Secret that can be revoked individually — one key per tool, exactly how it should be done.
The vendor’s own supported-endpoint list is short and specific: create a customer, a job, or an estimate, and get lists of customers, jobs, estimates, technicians, and equipment. That is the verified surface. Update and delete are not on the list, and neither are invoices or payments. No webhook catalog is documented in the vendor help we read.
Bridge apps: Service Fusion has a Zapier app, and the Pro gate applies there too — the vendor’s Zapier help article states your account must be on the Pro Plan to use the connection. Zapier triggers include New Customer, New Job, New Estimate, and New Invoice, with actions to Create Customer and Create Job. Note carefully: that New Invoice trigger is bridge evidence — it does not prove an invoices API exists, and the vendor’s API list does not include one. No Make app was found.
Hidden gate: No Pro plan, no API — and no Zapier either. The connection only unlocks on the top plan, so the upgrade cost belongs in any automation quote you compare.
If you’re on Service Fusion’s Pro plan, the front half of your shop — leads in, jobs created, estimates tracked — can genuinely connect. The money half can’t, on the vendor’s own documentation: no invoices, no payments. Price any automation accordingly, and if you’re not on Pro, price the upgrade in before you price the build.
